5 Local Suppliers Worth Knowing for Interior Design in Greater Moncton and the Shediac Area

Fabric, cabinetry, tile, lighting, and original art — five local suppliers in Greater Moncton and Shediac that Chantale turns to when designing spaces in Southeastern New Brunswick.

One of my favourite things about working in Southeastern New Brunswick is that you don't have to go far to find quality materials and unique finishes. The local supplier community in Greater Moncton and the Shediac area is genuinely strong — and supporting them means faster lead times, people who actually pick up the phone, and products with real character.

Here are five suppliers I turn to when designing spaces in this region, and what makes each one worth knowing.

  1. FABRICVILLE — MONCTON (Fabric & Home Décor)

100 Pleasant Street, Moncton, NB

When you're designing window treatments, throw cushions, reupholstering a chair, or adding soft texture to a room, Fabricville in Moncton is the first stop. They carry an enormous range of fabrics — from everyday cottons to upholstery-weight materials, drapery fabrics, and seasonal collections that rotate regularly. What sets them apart from ordering online is being able to feel the weight, drape, and texture of a fabric in person before committing to it.

Atlantic light does particular things to colour, and a fabric that looks warm and inviting on a screen can read entirely differently in a Moncton living room in January. Seeing and touching material in person matters.

Fabricville has been operating for over 50 years across Eastern Canada and their Moncton location has a knowledgeable staff that can advise on everything from yardage calculations to care requirements. Worth knowing: they offer a membership card with regular pricing discounts.

  1. GLENWOOD KITCHEN LTD — SHEDIAC (Custom Cabinetry)

191 Main Street, Shediac, NB

For custom cabinetry and millwork, Glenwood Kitchen in Shediac is a name that comes up consistently in this region — and for good reason. They've been building kitchens, bathroom vanities, and built-in storage solutions for Southeastern New Brunswick for decades. Their work is custom, locally built, and finished to order.

What I appreciate about Glenwood is their willingness to work with designers on non-standard configurations. Not every space fits a box-store cabinet run, and when you're working with an older home, an oddly proportioned kitchen, or a client who wants something truly built to their space, you need a fabricator who can problem-solve. Glenwood does that.

They're also simply easier to work with when timing matters. Local fabrication means you can often get into production faster than waiting for an imported kitchen to ship, and any adjustments or remakes are handled without a drawn-out warranty process.

  1. DOMINION TILE — MONCTON (Tile & Stone)

29 Roy Brown Street, Moncton, NB

Tile is one of those materials that can make or break a bathroom, kitchen, or entryway — and the difference between a good tile selection and a great one often comes down to having access to more than the big-box store range. Dominion Tile in Moncton carries a curated selection of porcelain, ceramic, natural stone, glass tile, and specialty products that you won't find at a standard building supply retailer.

I've worked with their team on projects where we needed something specific — a large-format porcelain with a particular veining pattern, or a mosaic tile for a feature wall — and they've consistently been able to source options within budget. Franca di Domenico and the team understand that designers often need to match materials across multiple suppliers, and they're patient with the back-and-forth that involves.

Their showroom is worth visiting with clients. Seeing tile at scale in a showroom setting — next to other materials — is a completely different experience than looking at a 4" sample swatch online.

  1. TERRA VERDE — MONCTON (Lighting, Furniture & Accessories)

700 St. George Blvd, Moncton, NB

Terra Verde is one of those stores that clients genuinely enjoy visiting. Located on St. George Boulevard, they carry a well-edited mix of lighting, furniture, rugs, and home accessories — with a focus on quality and design sensibility that's a step above most retail options in the region.

For lighting in particular, Terra Verde is the go-to. Good lighting design is one of the highest-impact things you can do in a space, and having access to a local showroom with a real selection — pendants, sconces, floor lamps, chandeliers — makes the selection process so much more useful than ordering blindly from a catalogue. You can see how a fixture reads in three dimensions and assess the scale before it ends up on a ceiling. They were recognized as Moncton's Best Lighting Store in 2024, which reflects what designers and homeowners in this region already know.

They also carry furniture and accessories that can round out a room — useful when you need a few well-chosen pieces to complete a look rather than furnishing an entire space from scratch.

  1. ART — THREE WAYS TO FIND IT LOCALLY

Art is often the last thing clients think about and the first thing that makes a room feel finished. The good news is that you don't have to go far or spend a lot to find original pieces with real character.

Coffee shops in Moncton and Dieppe regularly feature rotating work from local artists — it's worth slowing down to look. Many of these artists sell directly, and buying original work from someone in your own community is one of the better stories a room can have.

HomeSense and Bouclair are worth a visit for framed prints and decorative accessories — both carry items that work well as layered accents when you've already got a strong anchor piece in the room.

And if you're ever in the Annapolis Valley: Harvest Gallery at 362 Main Street in Wolfville, Nova Scotia is exceptional. Owner Lynda Macdonald has built one of the best curated collections of Maritime art I've seen — paintings, ceramics, sculpture, and mixed media from artists across the region. It's the kind of gallery where you walk in for a look and walk out with something for your wall.

A NOTE ON WORKING WITH LOCAL

There's a practical case for local suppliers — faster lead times, easier communication, the ability to see materials in person — but there's also something more than that. The spaces I design in Southeastern New Brunswick and the Annapolis Valley are shaped by this region. Using materials and makers that come from here gives a project a kind of rootedness that imported finishes rarely achieve.

If you're planning a renovation, office buildout, or new build in this area, I'm happy to walk you through the suppliers that make sense for your specific project and budget.
